Common responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing basic bedside care.
  • Maintaining comfortable, orderly, safe, and clean environment for patients.
  • Measuring and recording patients’ vital signs (such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration).
  • Preparing and giving injections and enemas.
  • Monitoring catheters.
  • Recording food/fluid input/output.
  • Dressing wounds.
  • Assisting with bed positioning, standing, and walking with patients.
  • Collecting samples for testing.
  • Performing routine laboratory tests as directed by supervisor.
  • Preparing and administering (orally, subcutaneously, through an IV), and recording prescribed medications.
  • Reporting adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed practical nurse.
  • Assisting in relevant health teaching for patient and family/significant other.
  • Recording all care information concisely, accurately, and completely in a timely manner, in the appropriate format, and on the appropriate forms.
  • Performing other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited LPN program.
  • Current LPN license in good standing with the state licensing board.
  • Minimum of one (1) year LPN experience, in area of specialty preferred.
