State-Tested Nurse Aides And Home Care Aides

They perform direct care duties, including bathing, feeding, dressing, and ambulating. STNAs are certified through the Ohio Department of Health. Home Care Aides have completed 60 hours of training and are fully trained in personal care and homemaking services.

Primary Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing hands-on care to patients in a variety of settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, and mental health facilities.
  • Performing routine tasks under the supervision of registered nurses.
  • Answering calls for help and determining if additional help is needed.
  • Serving meals.
  • Feeding patients.
  • Bathing and dressing patients.
  • Making beds and performing light housekeeping duties in patients’ rooms/homes.
  • Assisting with ambulation.
  • Providing skin care.
  • Observing patient’s physical, mental, and emotional conditions.
  • Observing fluid intake and output.
  • Reporting abnormal changes or patterns to nurses.
  • Reporting violent behaviors.

 

Position Requirements For STNAs:

  • Successful completion and passing of the Ohio State Nursing Assistant program and examination.
  • Current Ohio STNA license in good standing with the Nurse Aide Registry.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of nursing facility work.

 

Position Requirements For HHAs:

  • Successfully completing 60 hours of training and passing the competency examinations.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of providing supervised home health care.
